Styling the Lillian Pleated Crochet Skirt – Winter to Spring Outfit Inspiration!

I thought it would be fun to share some outfit inspiration for styling my Lillian Pleated Skirt Pattern as we transition from winter to spring (at least where I live)!

My Lillian pleated skirt is crocheted with natural wool yarn. Wool is a great temperature regulating fiber which seems great for a transitional piece in a season where days are beginning to get warmer, but we still have some chilly breezes and the occasional cool days or evenings.

The other item featured in both outfits is this vintage blue denim vest with pink-lavender buttons, that used to be my mom’s.

Our winters in the US south can be pretty temperamental, with mild, warm temps one day and icy, freezing cold the next, so layers are our friends. I could easily add a cardigan or coat over this outfit and add a layer or two of socks over the leggings if needed. I decided to keep things simple with the dark grey leggings and navy blue ankle boots this time.

I love pairing mustard yellow items with this vest (I just love mustard yellow in general), since the pairing looks very vintage-y. This also compliments the classic, pleated shape of the Lillian pleated skirt.

And of course, I had to throw on a cozy beanie. This one is my Winterfields Embroidered Beanie (pattern forthcoming) made with Brown Sheep Naturespun wool yarn (not affiliated). This beanie further adds to the vintage vibes.

Spring Lillian Pleated Skirt OOTD:

For the spring version of this outfit I still wanted to carry the vintage inspiration, so I switched out the leggings and ankle boots for some simple, strappy flat brown sandals and quarter socks.

I swapped the mustard yellow sweater for a mustard yellow cropped tee. It’s kind of hard to see in these photos, but the bottom hem of the tee has a 1/2 inch band of elastic cinching it. This creates the billowy shape, and I think it pairs well with high-waisted skirts and pants. I cuffed the sleeves to finish up the look.

And lastly, I switched out the beanie for a little crochet hairbow that I made. It features a small leather band for the center of the bow that matches the brown leather of the sandals.
