away from the frame and
squeezes her body between
them and the glass

Turning like liquid impossibly in the
narrow space,
she lays down and stretches out,
white paws reaching
to the window’s frame

Calico cat closes her eyes.

The sunlight pours down until
her fur is hot to the touch
and she sleeps peacefully,
dazed by the relentless
warmth.
