Christmas 2019 outfit mint blue t-shirt tucked into high-waisted dark blue, green and teal paisley print maxi skirt with brown suede ankle boots, red hair braided on one side

What I wore for Christmas Day 2019. I dressed up a plain, slightly oversized t-shirt by tucking it into a more formal paisley maxi skirt. I kept it balanced with a delicate butterfly pendant necklace and brown suede ankle boots.

I received this skirt from a friend’s closet cleanout several years ago, I believe. I don’t wear it much, but it’s a fave. It feels really well made, and the structured build, deep blue accents, and paisley print make it a bit of a statement piece.

I like the balance of wearing it with a simple tee in a coordinating teal blue, here. I love wearing tees like this, and they’re a nice versatile piece in a wardrobe, especially mine right now. This one is a recent fast fashion purchase, BUT I got it as well as the same shirt in another color because I have an older one passed along by a friend that has really held up over the years. I knew more of the same would work for my wardrobe right now.

I brought this yellow plaid flannel top along just in case, but it was really too warm to need it, until the evening.

If you’ve followed a long for a while, you might recognize the jewelry and boots. Though I don’t wear much jewelry day-to-day (just my rings right now), I have several jewelry pieces that I wear often when I do, like this metal bangle that was my mom’s and this shell butterfly necklace I’ve had for years. The boots were gifted from my mother-in-law last Christmas, and are a wardrobe staple for me in the fall/winter.
