outfit featuring light teal blue tiered shift tank-style dress with brown strappy flat sandals

I love how easy it is to change up a simple shift dress look just by pairing a different type of shoe, so I thought I’d have fun trying out a few different pairs with this tank-style shift dress my friend recently gifted me.

I kept it simple by just focusing on changing up the shoes and leaving out any accessories, but of course, any accessories would help further change up a look, too.

1. Simple Sandals

An easy spring and summer look that could be dressed up or down depending on what accessories you choose.

2. Suede Flats

I love that these mustard yellow flats add a pop of color. I think this outfit would be great for a summer dinner date outside. Breezy, flowy, and a little bit dressy.

3. Lace-Up Ankle Boots

Add a cardigan with these brown suede ankle boots and this outfit would be great for early fall.

4. 70’s Inspired Wide-Strap Platform Heels

I don’t wear these shoes often in my current mom-life, to be honest. But I love their vintage seventies look with the wide brown leather straps and golden grommet details connecting them to the base. Vintage-style wedges instantly give a simple shirt dress a vintage look. You could pair these with a leather vest or floral hair scarf.

5. Classic Tennis Shoes

I have to say, this is my favorite. I love pairing tennis shoes with t-shirt and shift-style dresses. I love the juxtaposition of the flowy dress with the casual footwear. This dress and shoe pairing also has a nineties vibe (make the dress a floral print for an even more on-point nineties-inspired outfit). This outfit also fits into my mom-style aesthetic.

Which shoe pairing is your favorite?
