A List of Things – keeping warm no. 5

  1. The days are getting longer and lighter here, and it feels like a breath being released.
  2. My non-crochet related wrist and elbow injury has gotten worse. On Friday, I had a nerve conduction velocity/EMG test and was told the problem is definitely in my elbow. I have a follow-up with my doctor on Tuesday where I will hopefully get details and guidance on next steps. For now, I am trying to ease pain in my arm by modifying behaviors and wearing a wrist brace more often. I haven’t crocheted at all the past few weeks, and regardless of whether treatment will be physical therapy or surgery, I am preparing for at least a while longer of no crocheting. But I’m not really sad about it. I have been wanting to lean into some other creative outlets, so I’m looking at this as a possible opportunity to do so.
  3. I think I am in a second wave of covid/isolation sadness. Even with vaccines, to road ahead still feels so long. I miss our friends. I miss gathering together with them. I miss seeing my son play with his friends. I miss going an adventures, taking my son to the zoo, museums, the local amusement park, playgrounds. But we are okay.

“Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

– Hebrews 4:14-16
