hanging twinkle lights

I finally had a day last week where the early dark evening was really bringing me down, so up the twinkle lights went.

I currently have a string of 60 feet of twinkle LED lights that we had around the living room ceiling in our old house, but I haven’t put it up anywhere in the rental house.

This day, I decided to give in and strung them up over my desk area in our office. I brought them back and forth, fighting with the wires to create layered scallops that worked out from the corner. I was unhappy with my execution and how the scallops looked, but I admit the warm glowing lights did immediately boost my serotonin.

I’m trying not to overuse them, but having an additional source of light at my desk besides my SAD light to give me a little more warmth has been extremely nice when the dark evenings have especially gotten to me.

You don’t need any special string of twinkle lights; lots are battery-powered so they can be hung almost anywhere. Even just a short strand can be enough.

Below, I’ve linked the long strand I currently have and my SAD light.

And other than that, here’s a wishlist of items I haven’t yet tried but am thinking of getting eventually for our new house, like these faux flickering candles that look very real. I’m sure there are other versions that are less expensive, but I haven’t done much research into it yet. If you have any suggestions or similar products you’ve used and liked, please share!
