What I Would Wear: Blue Monochrome Flowy Peasant Top With Pleated Mom Shorts
If you follow me on Instagram, you might know that even though I love putting together an outfit, when I’m at home – which was a lot of the time even before covid-19 – I favor comfortable lounge-y clothes over actual “outfits.”
But I do love sharing and seeing outfit posts, and at the end of 2019, I had begun to share more again on my blog and Instagram, and I planned to keep sharing more this year. Sheltering at home really slowed my roll on this for various reasons – 1. I wasn’t going places, so I wasn’t putting together new outfits, 2. Even though I sincerely appreciated everyone’s outfit posts, putting them together myself felt disingenuous and unimportant in the current scheme of things.
Since the pandemic isn’t going anywhere and posting more outfits is still something I want to do, I’m hoping to get back to it with several ootd post ideas in the coming months. Like this one, part of a possible “what I would wear” theme.
What I Would Wear: Blue Monochrome Flowy Peasant Top With Pleated Mom Shorts
On the left is my typical everyday attire at home. Comfy and great for getting housework done, hanging out with my kiddo whether inside or outside, getting in a workout, and quickly moving to my desk for some editing or crocheting.
The outfit on the right was a play around with an idea for pairing this flowy blue, chambray, peasant-style top with some high-waisted blue shorts for a sort of faux romper look. I only had these pleated light-washed denim mom shorts around as the closest match, so I don’t know that the romper look was achieved, but I think it’s maybe a chic Canadian tuxedo. I wouldn’t typically carry the full color from an outfit, if it was singular, into the shoes, but I tried it this time for a monochrome vibe.
Honestly, it’s a little too hot here right now for me to willingly wear any sleeve past my mid upper arms, but I’d probably have worn this in the spring for a day with friends or maybe a date night – especially changing up the shoes to some brown wedges or clogs, or at least some nice sandals. I think it might be a nice outfit for a fall orchard outing, too.
What do you think?
