Buttercup Flower Procreate Digital Illustration
I recently shared this buttercup flower illustration on Instagram. It’s a refined and recolored version of a buttercup lineart drawing I made for part of a repeating pattern collection last year.
You can find that collection on Spoonflower here!
And here’s a detailed look at the element used that I shared in a previous Instagram post.
I’ve been sharing more illustration on Instagram lately (every other post, in fact), which was a goal this year. Sometimes I share new drawings, but I also like to share clips of surface pattern design elements as well. This was a fun way to play around with details and color. I used a vintage inspired color palette I’d created on Procreate for another project as a color base, and worked with subtle sketchy, pencil-looking lines on the flower’s petals to mimic the texture of real buttercups.
This was a fun little project and I might do more in the future with other drawings from this same design collection. Keep an eye on my Instagram to see when I do!
