If we’ve had warm days here lately, it rains most of them. The other days are still an icy cold. It feels like it might never be truly warm and sunny. I have not had as hard of a time with the dark winter months this year as I have the past few, but I am so ready for the release of a held breath that is the beginning of spring.

Spring comes quickly here and doesn’t stay long. The sun peeks from behind white clouds and a gentle breeze tickles the hairs on your arms. Tiny, wild buds suddenly sprinkle the green yard where you make your steps and birds chirp sweetly from somewhere in a nearby tree. But blink once, and spring is gone again, like a wisp on the wind that lands on your hand but you can never catch and hold onto.

The visit may be much too short, but I am ready.

Today is a warmer day, and I am taking a brief moment as I sit at my desk and write this to have a few sips of mint lemongrass tea. In a few minutes, we will head over to our friends’ house to spend the evening, playing a game and enjoying the time we have together. It may rain the rest of the week, but if we really look for the warmth around us, we can find it.
