Keeping Warm
The days are dark and cold. Often, I wrap myself up in leggings, cardigans, thick socks, and fuzzy blankets. The older I get, the more the changing of seasons seems to affect my anxiety. It’s something I’m learning to deal with as I work to understand and handle my anxiety, a journey of sorts that I’ve been on since about two years postpartum.
A good thing is I really like the place I’m at with what I’m designing. Choosing to add in the embroidery that I love and make more detailed designs has been a good decision. Though everything takes longer with a toddler at home most of the time, I’ve found a pace that’s doable and still productive. Slow, but steady.
Another good thing – a mug of lavender Earl Grey with milk, local honey, and a bit of vanilla. It’s so calming to me and feels like a bit of a treat.
And one more, I’ve managed to get back into reading, it seems. So far, at least. Something I missed but couldn’t figure out how to fit in to my post-kid, design-filled life. I’d like to keep it going, and I’d like to write more, too. I’ve managed to be consistent with drawing again, so maybe one day.
A note to myself and fellow anxiety sufferers: It’s okay to be happy about things. Being happy about a moment or situation doesn’t mean that thing will suddenly be taken away. It’s okay to find joy in things. You don’t have to hold onto worry so tightly.
How are you keeping warm this winter?
