Cold Weather and Little Crochet Projects
A few days of heavy rain last week and we finally found ourselves needing to turn on the space heater in our room at night. The cold has persisted and we’ve switched out the sheets on our bed for a new, cozy flannel set. We don’t get much of a fall here like we once did; our weather seems to shift between sweltering hot to icy cold.
I’ll be warming myself up with a homemade London Fog of Twinings Lavender Earl Grey, a spoonful of honey, and dash of milk, and a drop of vanilla tonight in this mug and setting off on some editing for a design submission.
The time change has really effected me this time around, and I’ve felt pretty exhausted the last two mornings. You’d think adding an hour would be helpful, but I have an almost 4-year-old who doesn’t care about an extra hour of sleep, or really willingly sleeping in at any time.
Last week he was sick – probably just from sneaking too many Halloween treats and not with a stomach virus, thankfully – and I missed a day of work time to edit my Lyerly Embroidered Pullover Pattern, so I’m hoping to get back on board with that this week. There are just a few edits to go, but they’re the math-based ones and those are always tricky for me to settle my brain into.
Honestly, the older I get the more the seasonal shift to dark, wintry days seems to affect my mind and I’m dreading it a little bit, but at the same time I’m going to try to do things that help, like warm cups of favorite tea or still getting outside when possible. I have a feeling this year will go better than last.
