Waters Wears: Flowy Blue

flowyblue1

It’s been a WHILE since I’ve done an outfit post. ‘Bout time I get back to them. I love this top, and the other day I was able to wear it again since we had a colder day in the midst of summery temperatures.

It’s a pretty great shirt for breastfeeding, and can even kind of double as a cover, but I also just like how flowy and relaxed it is.

After having these Minnetonka boots and really liking them, I got these softsole ankle boots from them, and I think I might love them. I just love the way they look, and seeing what I can wear them with. I’ve not really been a fan of ankle height boots before once they’re on me, but these are super comfortable. Since they’re softsole, you do have to be careful wearing them if it’s raining, even if you’ve weatherproofed them, but I haven’t had any problems yet.

Waters Wears: Crochet Pleated Skirt

I started this skirt MONTHS ago, probably at least last summer, stopped working on it for a while (not because I was frustrated with it or anything like that, I was just working on other things), then picked it up and finished it just before Christmas. I’m really pleased with it.

It’s honestly a really easy item to just throw on and mix and match with winter layers, and I think it’ll be great in spring and summer, too. I made it to fit high waisted (a personal favorite waist height), but the elastic is strong enough that it can be worn closer to the hips, too. It’s also just really comfortable.

In reality, the overall time for making this skirt is probably less than a week, working a few hours a day, especially after getting the pleat forming down, even though it took me longer – Honestly, I had been working on it pretty leisurely, while my husband and some friends played tabletop, then I joined them, so I put the skirt away to focus on learning what I was doing. That’s why it got pushed aside for so long.

All in all, one of my favorite projects I’ve written and made; it works up well and also looks okay when worn.

Hope you all have a beautiful day!

UPDATE: There is now a pattern for this skirt available here, in my online shop.

Waters Wears: A Bit of Fall in Winter

fallinwinter1

It’s been in the thirties or lower around here lately, but this past weekend we had a few warmer days. It was honestly hard to believe we could be outside without heavy coats on and feel comfortable.

I got some pictures of Tanner, too, because, well, I kinda’ like him ;), and even though we didn’t stay outside very long (we’re both dealing with bad sinus infections right now) it was still a pleasant few moments.

After accidentally damaging one of my two pairs of boots, and having been looking for some nice boots for a while, I went with these from Minnetonka. They didn’t take long to break in at all, the insole is possibly the comfiest insole I’ve ever had in a shoe, and the fact that they lace up means they work for people with bigger or smaller calves and that you can wear them with leggings, jeans, thick socks, and several layers of material comfortably.

Hope you and yours are staying warm if it’s being ridiculously cold where you are. This winter’s supposed to be a doozy.
