I started this skirt MONTHS ago, probably at least last summer, stopped working on it for a while (not because I was frustrated with it or anything like that, I was just working on other things), then picked it up

I've been using just plain ol' triple crochet in a lot of the things I've made lately, and while there's nothing wrong with that, I've been wanting to play around with more stitches again; have some variety in my designs.

I love using crochet and leather together. And I also love crocheting pouches and bags, but I often forget to. I made a couple of these for my husband and myself and wound up liking them enough that I've decided

I'm really pleased with how this one turned out. I actually like it a lot better than I thought I would. I've been wanting to do an open-sided tunic/shirt/something for a long time now, inspired by muscle tees. Finally the

This vacation left me feeling kind of renewed with energy for designing and making. I came back not really with new ideas, but with a hunger for inspiration and to try crocheting some things I've had on a sort-of list

For real, though. I received this skirt several years ago when some friends' had helped their grandmother clean out her closet and we all divided up the skirts and tops we wanted before the rest was donated. It was originally

I've been wanting to try making a peplum top for a little while, although my original idea had the top being solid and with sleeves. I'm not sure how I got to this skinny-strap, open stitch design, exactly, maybe it

These are just a few projects I have been working on or have finished the past few months. Some are tests for patterns I'm working on, others are fun little experiments or things I can whip up easily in a

crochet pleats tutorial 1 Several months ago I was searching online for a guide to making crochet box pleats, but all I found was guides for stitches that were more like gathered fabric than pleating. The closest I found, and it is a very great tutorial, was this post on crochet pleats from April Garwood of Banana Moon Studio. It goes along with a pattern of hers for a girls jumper that was published in Interweave Crochet, Winter 2010. It was very, very helpful and I'd recommend a look at it. However, since there is a lack of tutorials for this crochet skill online where there are multiple guides for many others, I thought I'd try making a basic guide including two ways of making crochet box pleats. The first way is basically the same as Banana Moon Studio's guide, while the second is different. This post is quite long, so click through the jump to see the full post.
