T-Shirt Refashion: Lazy Daisy Embroidered Sleeves

I recently finished embroidering little lazy daisy flowers on the sleeves of a plain t-shirt I had. Some of this inspiration came from the sleeve detail on the dress in  this old Etsy listing I found on Pinterest. The colors I chose have more of a 70s retro inspiration, though.

If you’d like to add something similar to your own basic tee, here are a couple stitch tutorials:

Read on below to see more detail pictures and my process for adding the flowers to my t-shirt’s sleeves.

I used good ole’ DMC cotton embroidery thread for these flowers with an embroidery needle to make each lazy daisy.

Here are some close-up pictures. I wanted the flowers to seem a bit random, so I roughly marked where I wanted them to be using a wash-away fabric pencil, then alternated the colors and little leaf placement.

Each flower is worked individually, so the sleeves still stretch easily. I also left the sleeves unlined, as the back stitches seem very secure and I’m not worried about them needed extra protection.

These little lazy daisies are such a simple detail, but so sweet, I think. I have a skirt I’m looking forward to wearing this with when it gets warmer, and I also think it would go well with this headband. ;)
